[Samuel Clemens] Mark Twain: 1908 Vanity Fair Caricature. Original 10 1/2" x 16" 1908 Vanity Fair chromolithograph titled "Below The Mark." Affixed to mat at the top edge only, to an overall size of 13 1/2" x 19". Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity registering the print as "No. 28285."

Published in England from 1869 to 1914, Vanity Fair was a weekly periodical renowned for its full-color caricature portraits of prominent figures of the day and is unrelated to the later American magazine of the same name. The artwork is by "SPY" (Sir Leslie Ward), the magazine's most prolific caricaturist.
