Description

[Sam Houston]. Republic of Texas Currency Note Signed. 7.25" x 3", November 15, 1838. This $10 note was issued by the Republic of Texas Treasury Department and is signed by Henry Smith as secretary of the treasury. The signature of President Sam Houston is secretarial. Usual age toning. There is vertical separation down the middle of the note with tape repairs on the verso. Cross cancelled with an area of triangular paper loss. Marked "Cancelled" along the recto with spots of ink burning.
