[Lincoln Assassination]. George Meade's General Orders No. 15. announcing the death of President Abraham Lincoln. One printed page, 5" x 8", "Head-Quarters, Army of the Potomac," April 16, 1865. the order reads, in part: "The Major General Commanding announces to the Army that official intelligence has been received of the death, by assassination, of the President of the United States...An honest man, a noble patriot, a sagacious statesman has fallen! No greater loss, at this particular moment, could have befallen our country." Smoothed folds with light toning.
