First Partisan Rangers Broadside

Civil War Broadside: "Attention, Partizan Rancers [sic]!" One page, 8" x 11"; Washington, Arkansas; August 15, 1862. Broadside ordering all men enlisted under authority of Colonel W. P. Lane to report at once, "The regiment is under urgent marching orders for Ft. Gibson en route to / Bring all the arms possible. We have special orders by which we are not to be dismounted!" Signed in type, "A. Neill, Lt. Col." A scarce printing, the first we have seen. Listed in Parrish & Willingham citing copies at Yale University and Duke University.

Colonel Walter P. Lane raised the First Partisan Rangers in June 1862 in East Texas. The regiment spent all of its service west of the Mississippi River and participated in more than twenty engagements including at Bayou Boeuf, Kock's Plantation, Stirling's Plantation, and Bayou Bourbeau. Condition: Uneven toning, with light ghosting of type and flattened folds.
