Description

[Andrew Jackson]: Outstanding Celebratory War of 1812 Broadside. 19.25" x 24" broadside titled "Battle of Plattsburgh and Victory on Lake Champlain." Issued after Jackson's victory at the Battle of New Orleans, the crowning point of American victories and the final battle of the war. It contains accounts of that battle, as well as Macdonough's Victory and the Battle of Niagara. It is heavily populated with cartoon woodcuts celebrating America prowess and ridiculing British commanders and their Native American allies. A stirring example of "Yankee Doodledom" exuberance.

Condition: Scattered archival tape repairs at fold lines with old restoration to loss at two corners, using period paper.
