[Slavery.] 1852 Slave Inventory. Three pages of a bifolium, 7.75" x 9.75", no place; January 6, 1852. A handwritten slave inventory, dividing eight slaves among the deceased man's three heirs. It reads in part: "An Inventory of the Negroe Property belonging to the Estate of James D. Green Deceased". Eight individuals are then listed, along with their monetary value ranging from $800.00 for George at the top to $125.00 for Harriet at the bottom. The next pages allocate the slaves to each of Green's heirs. Signed at the conclusion by the Justice of the Peace as witness.

Condition: Flattened folds, with uneven toning and spotting throughout.
