Manhattan Project: Souvenir Trinitite Paperweight. 2.5" Lucite paperweight housing a large segment of trinitite, the term used to describe particles of sand that fused together following the test explosion of the first Atomic bomb at Los Alamos, New Mexico on July 16, 1945. This example measures 2" x 2" and approximates the shape of the continent of Africa. It is accompanied by a caption card, discharge papers for the original owner, Technician Fifth Grade Inez O'Brien, and a certificate of appreciation to O'Brien, recognizing her "... participation in work essential to the production of the Atomic Bomb. "
