Description

Large Wooden Model of the German Heavy Cruiser "Blücher". A superb small-scale reconstruction of the "Blücher", measuring 38" in length, and featuring four two-gun turrets and an array of smaller turrets and anti-aircraft guns. The ship is constructed entirely of wood and painted gray overall. The radio masts are detailed and finely rigged. The ship is in fine condition and is accented with several small details, including a small plastic seaplane, giving it an impressive overall look. The Blücher was launched in 1937, became operational in 1940 and was destroyed shortly after by land-based torpedoes while participating in the German invasion of Norway (Operation Weserübung).
