General Doolittle's Visor Hat With Signed Card From Navy Relief Fund Auction The Naval relief fund auctions were and are a source of fund raising to help sailors and Marines with financial assistance both at home and abroad. Many celebrated military leaders donated uniforms and other personal effects to help the relief society to raise funds. The lot consists of a WWII US Army officers visor hat in excellent condition, interior size marked 6 7/8, sweatband marked McClellan Field Post Exchange with initials "J.H.D." in ink at the front. Also included is the original 3" X 5" typed note card reading "Navy Relief Fund Auction / Item: Army Air Corps Officers Billed Hat / Control Number 67 / Donated By: Gen, J.H. Doolittle USAAC" and signed Jim Doolittle.
