Description

Fantastic U.S. Navy WWII Period "Big Eye" Bridge Binoculars. An impressive piece of military optical equipment measuring approximately 55" tall mounted on the pedestal and approximately 36.5" from eyepiece to objective lens. Though unweighed, it could easily top the scales at 300-400 pounds. The body and pedestal have been significantly polished, so the only markings to be found are on the pedestal "A21 BU 321-5-1 USN", and the left and right body of the binoculars "26800103" and "26800104". The top of the body is also marked "US" in raised letters. The objective lens are protected with hinged covers. The elevation controls, focus adjustments and traversing mechanism function properly and the optics are clear. As previously mentioned the entire piece has been polished, but with the exception of one small dent on the edge of the right objective lens, this impressive piece is in excellent condition. Property from the Estate of John R. Eckel, Sr. For more information on this estate, please view the article "An Antique Love Story".
