Description

WWI: German Officer's Silver Presentation Tray.

21" x 14" twin-handled serving tray with lengthy inscription in German surrounded by the engraved signatures of the officers associated with the piece. Dated November 1917, the inscription appears to honor an "esteemed former commanding general" [J. M. Feld] who apparently was killed in action. The verso is stamped: "Posen 11367 800" with three hallmarks (crown, quarter moon and one other that is indistinct). Very good condition. From the Collection of Jonathan Kern Sold to Benefit Charity
