Description

Prussian Dragoon Officers' Pickelhaube. Fiber body and visors with silver trim and a graceful 4¾" tall removable-top spike set atop a silver cruciform base which is mounted to the helmet body with four gold star-head studs, complete with all retaining nuts and washers. The silver front plate displays exceptional detail and is mounted to the helmet by two threaded posts with nuts and retaining washers. There are no additional holes in the front of the helmet body. One wing of the small eagle on the scepter has broken off but the rest of the plate is in superb condition. The silver, slightly convex chin scales are complete and in excellent condition. The proper large two-piece Reichs and Prussian cockades are present. The officers' leather sweatband is torn and has a few small holes; the silk lining is present and also has a few small tears. There are no size stamps, manufacturer's marks, or personalized markings of any kind present on the helmet. The helmet has retained its shape well and is generally free from crazing. There are a series of small stress cracks where the rear visor joins the helmet body, otherwise the helmet is complete and in excellent condition.
