Description
U.S. Springfield Model 1896 Krag Bolt Action Rifle. Serial no. 88998, .30-40 caliber, 30-inch blued barrel with blade front and ladder rear sights. No C stampings observed on rear sight. Three sling swivels in standard military configuration. Left side of receiver with Springfield Armory address and "Model 1896." Two-piece walnut stock with inspector's cartouche under wrist. Steel buttplate with compartment cover.Condition: Fine to excellent. Retaining at least 30-40% blue on the barrel with more in protected areas. Scattered fine frosting and pitting on barrel surface. Larger pits to left side of receiver, possibly with blue in the pits. Stock fine with scattered dents.
