Description

U.S. Model 1855 .58 Caliber Pistol Carbine, Springfield 1856. The pistol has a 12" round .58 caliber barrel with a dark bore and adjustable rear and fixed front sights. Barrel mostly smooth and gray with pitting at the breech and small scattered dents on the forward half, tang dated 1855. Lock marked "U.S. Springfield 1856", functioning action, traces of the eagle on the primer door, catch missing, hammer repaired. Wood exhibits scattered dents, scratches, a few tight cracks through the wrist and a deep indentation where the stock attached to the wrist. Brass fittings display small scattered dents.
