Spanish-American War: Rare City of Brooklyn Crew Medal Named to U.S. Marine Corps Private William Morrisey.

City of Brooklyn medal commemorating the destruction of the Spanish fleet given to crewmembers who served aboard the USS Brooklyn, bronze, 51 mm, original white/green ribbon with anchor pendant, named to WM. MORRISEY on the pendant. The Marines deployed men from Camp McCalla to the USS Harvard, USS Brooklyn and USS Marblehead to guard Spanish prisoners taken at the Battle of Santiago. The book Marines in the Spanish-American War, 1895-1899 speaks specifically of 29 Marines from Camp McCalla sent to serve on the USS Brooklyn. Morrisey is listed on the Marine muster rolls at Camp McCalla.
