Description
Spanish-American War: Four Named California Veterans Service Medals.Includes: 1) California Spanish-American War Service Medal awarded to William Streib, Battery K, Third Artillery, U.S. Army. 38-mm bronze planchet suspended from bronze pendant numbered 2658. The reverse of the medal is marked: "THE PEOPLE OF CALIFORNIA / TO / WILLIAM STREIB / BATTERY K / THIRD ARTILLERY / FOR SERVICE IN THE / SPANISH-AMERICAN WAR / 1898-99." The medal is sold with a single pressed-brass artillery collar insignia. 2) California Spanish-American War Service Medal awarded to Harold E. Parks, Company K, 1st Regiment, California Infantry. Identical in form to the previous example but numbered 825 on the reverse of the pendant. Parks was wounded in the right shoulder at San Pedro Machat, Philippine Islands on February 28, 1899. 3) California Spanish-American War Service Medal awarded to J. N. Maddox, Company B, 7th Regiment, U.S.V. Numbered 3879 on the reverse of the pendant. 4) California Spanish-American War Service Medal awarded to William A. Rogers, Company H, 1st California Volunteers. Numbered 695 on the reverse of the pendant. Rogers was wounded in the left thigh near Block House 12, in the Philippines, February 5, 1899.
