Spanish-American War: First Tennessee Regiment Veterans Medal From the Women of Tennessee Presented to William Rutter.34-mm sterling planchet suspended from a red/white/blue silk ribbon. Maker marked B. H. Steiff and sterling on the pendant. Reverse marked: "PRESENTED / TO / WM. RUTTER / FIRST TENNESSEE / REGIMENT / SPANISH-AMERICAN WAR / FOR / VALLIANT SERVICE / BY / THE WOMEN OF / TENNESSEE." Rutter saw service in the Philippines from October 30, 1898, returning home on November 11, 1899.
