Description
Spanish-American War: Cased West Indies Naval Campaign Medal (Sampson Medal) With Manzanillo Engagement Clasp Awarded to a U.S. Marine.38 mm, pinback, stamped HERBERT F. FIELD, PRVT on the rim. The reverse is marked Guantanamo June 11-12-13. The medal is housed in the original fitted purple-velvet lined leather case. Herbert Field was a private in Huntington's Battalion. He served in Company D which saw heavy combat which lost three men killed in action and seven wounded in action.
Condition: The ribbon is tender where it meets the ring, otherwise in very good condition.
