Description
Four National Guard of California Marksmanship Badges, Circa 1888-1892.Includes: 1) 1892 dated silver marksmanship badge with four "RIFLEMAN" clasps. 28-mm planchet with California bear and caption "NATIONAL GUARD OF CALIFORNIA EUREKA" on the obverse and captioned "AWARDED BY THE STATE TO". No name is engraved but the number "320" is stamped near the lower edge. Pendant marked Geo. Shreve & Co., sterling. 2) 1888 dated silver pinback marksmanship badge with clasps for "RIFLEMAN" and "SHARPSHOOTER". Unnamed. 3) 1887-1889 dated gilt pinback marksman badge with three "MARKSMANSHIP" clasps. Unnamed but numbered "1011" on the rim. 4) 1887-1888 dated bronze pinback marksmanship badge with two "MARKSMAN" clasps. Unnamed but numbered "313" on the rim.
