Description
Fine Colt M1878/1902 Double Action .45 Caliber "Philippine" Revolver with the Original Manila Arsenal-Marked Holster, Dated 1903, #43543 Matching. Gun retains about 80% of the original blue, the balance a smooth dark gray. There are a couple of dings on the loading gate and the large screw that passes through the frame to the circular disc is slightly damaged and should be replaced, else very fine. Fine bore, mechanically perfect, crisp markings, including multiple inspectors' marks. Grips also about perfect, complete with lanyard swivel. The original brown leather holster, with embossed US, is marked on the back of the belt loop with individual ¼" die stamps, "US/ Manila/ Arsenal/ PI" and at the bottom just above the rivets, "1903", stamped over a smaller US above the maker's mark. The holster is in good, sound, supple condition, showing wear and use, with some crackling of the finish, but no flaking. The set is accompanied by a blue web Mills cartridge belt with the M1887 cast brass buckle, stenciled in white paint on the back "Co. G 3 (?) N. G. 59". A very nice gun and a very rare holster.Auction Info
