Description

The Pennsylvania Gazette (Philadelphia. Pa.): Original Benjamin Franklin Imprint. Capture of Montreal by the British During the French and Indian War. September 11, 1760, 4 pgs., 10" x 15 3/4". The newspaper contains front page coverage of the Montreal Campaign, also known as the fall of Montreal, a British three-pronged offensive against Montreal which took place from July 2 to September 8, 1760 during the French and Indian War as part of the global Seven Years' War. The campaign, pitted against an outnumbered and out-supplied French army, led to the capitulation and occupation of Montreal, the largest remaining city in French Canada. The victory at Montreal was the culmination of the British offensive against Canada and meant that the British had effectively won the war. Outstanding display newspaper marking the British winning Canada from the French during the French and Indian War, an event that would have monumental world-wide effects for the next 3 centuries.
