Description

US M1840 Musician's Sword Horstmann Phila. Likely a very early example and quite possibly pre Mexican War. Blade near mint with just a few minor stains. Hilt perfect with nice light patina. Excellent markings with a large letter R on the reverse ricasso. Scabbard, very good, sound condition with a nearly imperceptible repair to a crack 8" above the drag, detracts little. Brass mounts excellent with just one small dent. Nice early example of this regulation US sword.
