Description
U. S. Flags: 32-Star Flag. 45 1/2" x 22" cotton flag with 32 stars in the canton (May 11, 1858 to February 14, 1859). It has two whipped grommets and is inscribed in ink "E. A. Pratt 32" on the hoist. The canton was cut out from a bolt of fabric containing continuous rows of printed stars. The tips of stars can be seen on either side. Excess material on the left side of the canton was folded over and sewn into place, adjusting the size as deemed appropriate. All components are hand-sewn. There are some scattered small holes, but the overall condition is excellent with no fading or staining.Auction Info
