Description

British 1796 Pattern .69 Caliber Flintlock Pistol by Henry Nock. One of the basic British cavalry and dragoon weapons of the Napoleonic Wars and the War of 1812. 14½" overall, 8¼" barrel with correct proofs and HN (Henry Nock) at the breech, steel blade front sight. All brass furniture including a 7/16" wide brass band at the front of the forestock. Convex lock with crown over GR and H. Nock at the tail. All metal smooth and gray with excellent markings and absolutely no rust or pitting. Mechanically perfect and retains the original proof marked iron ramrod. All brass furniture with nice light patina, the ramrod pipe showing a number of dents. The wood is very good with nice patina and crisp proof marks opposite the lock. There is a minor hairline under the lock at the rear, and two small old replaced pieces, one at the upper rear of the lock, the other by the butt cap. Expertly done and really very minor. A very nice, original flintlock, late 18th century, British military pistol, especially desirable by this maker.
