Description

Very Nice Untouched Nashville Plow Works Cavalry Saber 36 1/4" curved blade with unstopped fuller extending to the guard on the bottom and within 8" of the tip at the top. Blade very nice with smooth light gray patina overall and just a few small, really insignificant scattered areas of salt and peppering. There are also just a few small nicks at the mid section of the blade but inconsequential. Classic form hilt with "C.S.A." and "Nashville Plow Works" cast into the underside. Leather wrapped grip retains about three quarters of its original leather and wire wrap. 1/2" plain iron ferrule at the base. Scabbard also in very nice untouched condition with brass throat, ring mounts and drag. Iron carrying rings. Scabbard with 90% deep dark original japanned finish. There is a minor shallow dents near the tip. The crude soldered seam is very evident along the back edge of the scabbard, with the same rather crude quality of workmanship evident in the attachment of the scabbard throat, typical of these swords. A wonderful example of this classic Confederate cavalry saber.
