Description

Very Fine Confederate Cavalry Saber by Boyle & Gamble of Richmond, Virginia. 34½" blade with unstopped fuller that terminates 1" from the hilt. Blade generally bright with some scattered patina, absolutely no rust of pitting and really exceptional. Retains the original thick leather washer. Hilt with the distinctive rough cast finish on the face of the guard/quillon with a few minor casting flaws and traces of gilt. The outward branch of the guard is slightly bent else perfect. Grip with the original leather wrap exhibits a few worn spots but very good, retaining the original very fine twisted brass wire. There is no scabbard. Exceptional example of this scarce maker identified Confederate cavalry saber.
