Description
Very Fine Civil War Cap Box with Period Alteration by a Skilled Rifleman or Sharpshooter. Box near mint, just some minor crazing on the belt loops, maker marked on inside flap but very weak. A small hole was pierced in the inside flap from which is suspended a leather thong with a 7/8" x 2 ¾" piece of leather that is cut along the edges to accommodate 30 percussion caps, thus alleviating the need to actually reach into the cap box. Clearly an experienced shooter once used this cap box.Auction Info
