Description

U.S. Philadelphia 14th Infantry Regiment Civil War Drum.

Measuring 17-inches in diameter, 13-inches in height. Drum appears to be completely original, in as used condition with ropes and leather tighteners. Front features a brightly painted American Eagle crest, along with: 14 REG. U.S. INFANTRY. Inner label reads: ERNEST VOGT. / MANUFACTURER OF / DRUMS, BANJOS, TAMBORINES & C. / NO. 225 BEAVER STREET (Philadelphia) / CONTRACT, DECEMBER 29TH, 1864. Sold along with a copy of the book U.S. Military Drums (1845-1865), by G. Craig Caba. The book is inscribed "Best wishes in the future" and also signed and dated, by the author. Opening page features an image of a drum very similar to this one being offered.

Condition: Very good. Overall showing honest age and handling wear. Well built example.
