Description
U.S. 4.5 Inch Twelve Pounder Canister. Fired from a 12 pounder smoothbore 4.62 inch caliber gun. Standard canister used extensively during the Civil War by Federal batteries causing incredible carnage. Wooden sabot with minor chip along the rim, otherwise sabot perfect. Tin cylinder has one minor dent just under the crimped top that runs along the soldered seam. Iron plate intact. A very rare and extremely desirable projectile.Auction Info
