An old piece of string has replaced the stopper chain. Marked "C.H. & Co. Phila" on the neck of the spout. [Mike O'Donnell, U.S. Army & Militia Canteens 1775-1910, pages 122-123].Condition: Very good to excellent. Lacking the stopper chain, as noted. Some yellowing to cloth covering and sling from age, but little or no signs of apparent use.
