Nathan Bedford Forrest: From-Life Carte-de-Visite [CDV] of the "Wizard of the Saddle".Possibly unpublished from-life view of the notorious Confederate cavalry commander. Ben Oppenheimer of Mobile back mark. The bold portrait is surrounded by a decorative "frame" done in gold ink. We haven't seen this pose before and it is no doubt very rare, if not unique. We sold a similar, but "standard" pose CDV of Forrest from the Bret Formichi Collection for $10,000, also by Oppenheimer.
