Framed Don Troiani Print "Sons of Erin", (Southbury, Connecticut: Historical Art Prints, 1996), #16 of 100 printer's proofs, pencil signed by artist in lower right margin, complete with explanatory Certificate of Authenticity intended for the general run of 1,500 commercial prints. Professionally matted in frame. This exciting scene depicts Thomas Meagher's 69th New York Volunteers at Antietam on September 17, 1862 shortly before their final assault against D. H. Hill's Confederates in the "Bloody Lane." The 69th, composed of Irish immigrants, lost over half its number during the charge.Auction Info
