Description

Fine Untouched Condition John Brown Pike #69 with Attached Period Provenance on the Original Full Length Haft. 9 1/2" leaf shaped blade, cross guard and ferrule, all with smooth dark patina and absolutely no rust or pitting, totally untouched. Just some very slight rounding of the tip of the blade. Numbered 69 on the iron ferrule and one of the lowest numbers recorded. Attached just below the ferrule is a 2" X 3" paper label with the period ink script legend "John Brown / Harpers Ferry / October 1859". The original 71 1/2" haft is in perfect untouched condition, with dark rich patina. Rounded on the bottom with customary flare. Really an exceptional example of this iconic weapon and likely one of the actual Harpers Ferry examples.
