Fantastic Collection of 1st Minnesota Volunteer Infantry Reunion Medals, Badges and Ribbons. Over 38 individual items associated with the 1st Minnesota including many Gettysburg reunion pieces. Highlight include: 1.) 20 ribbons, circa 1888 to 1906 commemorating many receptions and reunions including those held in Lake Minnetonka 1888, Duluth 1889, Winona 1891, Red Wing 1900, Waterville 1901 and others. The collection also includes two 1893 Gettysburg guest ribbons from and an 1897 1st Minnesota Gettysburg ribbon. All of the items in this group have been removed from an album and 13 examples of these ribbons have been closely trimmed from album pages and still retain the thick paper affixed to the reverse side. 2.) Nine badges and medals including a Gettysburg veterans' medal, Gettysburg survivors of the 1st Minnesota Volunteer ribbon and celluloid badge, 5 G.A.R. examples, among others. 3.) Small silver pinback 2nd Corps badge and a larger 2nd Corps souvenir stickpin with the caption "FIRST / MINN. VOLS.". 4.) Miscellaneous items including a celluloid G.A.R. button, celluloid First Minnesota Volunteers button, meal ticket for a 1st Minnesota trip to Gettysburg, June 29, 1897, small G.A.R. souvenir canteen, lapel rosettes and other interesting items. The 1st Minnesota is possibly best known for their actions on the second and third days of the battle of Gettysburg when they took terrible casualties repelling Confederates at Cemetery Ridge.Condition: 1.)
