Description

Excellent Civil War Regulation Artillery Musician's Shell Jacket. Civil War Regulation Artillery Musician's Shell Jacket in excellent condition. With its distinctive facing stripes of red worsted tape, this artillery bugler's jacket was among the most colorful uniforms of the Civil War. The three-eighths of an inch red worsted tape continues, as per regulation, onto the tall stand-up collar, cuffs, lower edge and back seams. Both "pillows" designed to support the saber belt remain on the back. The jacket has all twelve original small general service buttons extending down the front along with two at each side of the collar and two at each functional cuff. There is no moth damage, but there is a minor hole on the right sleeve. The interior is a course brown woven wool showing no wear. The light brown cotton lining of both sleeves is cut with three dots. A noteworthy addition to any American militaria collection.
