Description
Early Albert Sidney Johnston CDV. This fine image clearly shows Albert Sidney Johnston (1802-1862) in the uniform of a Major General in the U.S. Army. At the outbreak of the Civil War Johnston resigned his position as commander of the U.S. Army of the Pacific in California and went on to form the Confederate Army of Mississippi. Johnston was killed at the Battle of Shiloh. This card was published by E. & H.T. Anthony, New York and is in near fine condition. Someone has written Johnston's name at the bottom of the card but interestingly misspelled his last name and corrected it.Auction Info
