Cutaway Civil War 12 Pd. Spherical Case Shot. Obviously a battlefield recovery with the exterior heavily pitted. About one third of the shell is cutaway to reveal the interior with balls and matrix. Explosive charge removed and side of shell drilled. Appears to be configured with a loader plug in the base. A Bormann fuze has been added for display.
