Description
Confederate-Style Jean Cloth Shell Jacket.Gray jean cloth shell jacket with nine Federal general service buttons, 1¾-inch standing cotton collar, and full linen lining with a single interior patch pocket at the right breast. Interior shows the silhouette of a removed name tag at the neck, and there is visible shadowing at the cuffs from removed trim. A modern Southern Cross of Honor and a Jefferson Davis Memorial Trail commemorative medal are pinned to the chest.
The use of Federal general service buttons and evidence of removed insignia or trim suggest possible post-war modification, alteration, or later assembly, and the jacket is offered as described.
Condition: Wear to the interior neck lining; scattered staining, a few small holes, and minor snags, otherwise a visually attractive example.
