Description
Confederate Cedar Wood Canteen Carried by a Member of the "14th Alabama Volunteers" and inscribed "14th ALA" near the throat of the canteen, with black leather harness shoulder strap also carved with floral designs. The 14th Alabama Infantry regiment was organized at Auburn, Alabama in July 1861. It served in Lee's Army of Northern Virginia and fought in its first battle at the Battle of Williamsburg. It later lost 316 men at the Battle of Gettysburg. A superb Confederate canteen from the hard fighting Alabama regiment.Auction Info
