Confederate Brigadier General William Ruffin Cox: Miniature Portrait and 18K Gold Tiffany Presentation Watch William Cox (1832-1919) fought at many important engagements during the Civil War including Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, the Wilderness, Spotsylvania Court House, Cold Harbor and several other campaigns, sustaining eleven wounds in the process. He surrendered his men at Appomattox Court House in April, 1865. On offer is an 18k gold watch in hunter case finely engraved inside the back cover " W.R.C. from C.F.M.N.". The face marked "Tiffany & Co New York", watch is working and in fine condition showing no use, contained in a leather veneered case marked on the inside cover "Tiffany & Co New York", leather shows wear. Attached to the watch is an 18K gold chain with ships wheel compass fob. The finely painted portrait " signed "H. Valent" measures 2 5/8" X 3 1/4" and is contained in a gilt metal case, which, in turn, is housed in a leather veneered case which shows wear to the leather.
