Description

Confederate Brigadier General Carnot Posey Clipped Signature "Carnot Posey". 4.25" x .75", mounted to a clipped piece of Confederate blue paper to an overall size of 4.5" x 1.5". The general's signature has been clipped from a larger document an reads "Approved/ Carnot Posey/ Brig. Genl". Posey was wounded in the left leg or thigh during the Battle of Bristoe Station, and died on November 13, 1863 as a result of his wound. Among Confederate generals, his is one of the scarcer signatures. Though the paper on which the signature appears has browned with age, Posey's signature remains bright, bold and in very good condition.
