Description

Civil War Wallet with Nice Period ID. Leather folding wallet that opens to a length of 12", 4½" high. Clearly shows wear and use but leather very supple, some mold/ mildew that could be easily cleaned. Neatly inscribed on the top of the two inner leather flaps "James A. Jackson/ Co. D 12th Wis, Vol." along with Brigade, Division and Corps. Jackson enlisted on September 18, 1861,and served with the unit until muster out on July 16, 1865. The unit was heavily engaged throughout his term of service losing 96 men killed and mortally wounded. Absolutely authentic and very scarce.
