Description

Civil War Regulation Eagle Snare Drum 16.5" diameter, 16" high including the hoops. The drum retains about 95% of the original painted decoration, absolutely untouched with a fine mellow age patina. Brass tack design around the air hole perfect. Retains the original interior paper label reading "Manufactured by Horstmann Brothers Military Furnishers Fifth & Cherry Street Philadelphia". The label appears to be about 70% complete. Above that label is pasted a smaller label which reads "Repaired by Puntenney & Eutsler 231 North High Street Columbus, Ohio". The drum retains the original rope and five of the original tighteners. Both hoops painted reddish brown, the heads likely replaced. A beautiful example of a regulation Civil War drum.
