Civil War: Navy Civil War Campaign Medal, National Association of Naval Veterans Badge, and GAR Membership Badge Identified to William H. Holabird Who Served Aboard the Monitor USS Monadnock.

Includes: 1) Civil War Campaign Medal for Navy and Marines, 33-mm bronze planchet with half-wrap brooch. Marked on the rim: "Wm H. HOLABIRD US MONITOR MONADNOCK" and numbered 2245. 2) GAR membership badge numbered W17993. 3) Civil War National Association of Naval Veterans badge. Silver-metal eagle and shield mounted upon a gilt metal anchor suspended via a pendant with navy blue silk ribbon. The badge was limited to officers and men who served in the U.S. Navy from 1861-65.

The USS Monadnock was commissioned late 1864 and participated in the battles at Fort Fisher. She was assigned to the James River Flotilla on patrol duty off Richmond, Virginia. She later sailed to Spanish Cuba to intercept the Confederate ironclad CSS Stonewall.
