Description
Civil War: Lot of Three Massachusetts State Veterans' Medals.Includes: 1) Massachusetts Minute Men medal, bronze, 38 mm, featuring the seal of Massachusetts on the obverse, ROBERT ARMSTRONG, JR. PRVT. D. 3d. BTN. R.F.N., pinback hanger captioned MASSACHUSETTS / MINUTE MEN 1861. The consignor notes that the U.S. Mint struck 3,805 examples after the Legislature authorized it in April of 1902. 2) Identical in form to the preceding example, stamped JAMES W. HART, CAPT. D. 6TH REG. 3) Massachusetts Antietam Monument Dedication medal, 39 mm, with the seal of Massachusetts on the obverse, with pinback hanger captioned MASSACHUSETTS, suspended from a white silk ribbon.
