Description
Civil War Confederate Boyle Gamble & Mcfee Saber Bayonet with the Original Scabbard, Frog, and Marked Bayonet Adaptor. 25¼" overall with 20¼" yataghan blade. Brass grip marked on the underside with serial #23. The adaptor ring is possibly an excellent condition battlefield recovery but with nice markings. Missing the tightening screw but threads are crisp. Blade with nice smooth dark gray patina, totally untouched. The locking button and spring are fine and work perfectly. The leather scabbard, fitted to the yataghan blade is very sound with tight stitching but does exhibit some flaking. The original brass scabbard throat with spear point frog finial, which is rather crudely finished on the face. Also what is clearly the original leather frog which also exhibits some flaking but very sound. The scabbard is missing its tip but easily restorable. Very nice untouched example of this scarce and desirable Confederate primary saber bayonet.Auction Info
