Description

Civil War Cap Box Recovered from the Gettysburg Battlefield. Obviously recovered within months of the battle and accompanied by and ink script lable written on the back of a personal calling card "Found on the battlefield of Gettysburg". Strongly believe the cap box to be Confederate with rounded brass finial, two stitched belt loops, no tool marks, squared flap and narrow latch tab, which is broken. Also rather crude hand stitching along the edge of the box. Excellent relic condition with considerable crazing on the flap but no flaking. Nice early Gettysburg relic.
