Description

Beautiful Chasseur Cap with Confederate Connection. This stunning cap was truly inspired by the French kepi and represents the most attractive of American Civil War headgear. It is also a style that was favored by many Confederate artillery officers and closely follows Confederate States uniform regulations. The full, bright red wool body rises more than 3" in the front and is trimmed in 1/8" gold metallic tape, which continues around a deep blue band. The thick, bound visor has a very deep green underside and is solidly affixed. There are some minimal moth nips and the cap is missing only the chinstrap and side buttons. Inside, the cap is lined with a reddish brown polished cotton. The very thin dark brown leather sweatband shows only the slightest damage and the stiffener in the crown appears to be made of woven fabric coated with a thin layer of tar or glaze. In all, this is a highly desirable cap in excellent condition
