[Slavery] 1822 North Carolina Slave Bill of Sale. One page, 8" x 6.5", Bertie County, North Carolina, May 24, 1822, docketed on the verso, with fold creases, slightly toned, but bright, legible and in very good condition. William Steele of Bertie County, North Carolina sells Henry Cobb of the same county a young slave. It reads, in part: "in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars to me in hand paid, do bargain sell and have sold and delivered one negro girl named Easter...".Auction Info
