[1]-5 pages of text (General Orders, No. 9 Adjutant Inspectors General's Office, Richmond, Va., June 6, 1861, Uniform and Dress of the Army. Nine hand-colored chromolithographed plates of uniforms, hand-colored chromolithographed slip of hats, six lithographed plates of chevrons, badges, epaulettes, buttons, and a tailor's plate, errata slip, War Department General Orders No. 4 (24 January 1862), regarding forage caps, bound in. Most plates by E. Crehen. Contemporary maroon cloth with printed paper title label mounted to front board. A remarkably clean copy of this scarce work with trivial wear to the boards, plates clean, except the plate titled "Overcoats" which has sustained some offsetting from the previous plate. Very good condition. This copy was the personal copy of 2nd Lieutenant George C. Wedderburn, A Company, 3rd Virginia Local Defense Infantry, his ownership appearing in ink on the flyleaf "Geo. C. Wedderburg / March 14, 1864"). [Parrish and Willingham, 2417].
